Why Himalayan cedarwood specifically
Cedrus deodara — the "deodar" cedar — grows slowly at high altitude in the Himalayas, and that slow growth is what concentrates its oil into a richer, more resinous profile than faster-growing cedar species. Deodar has been used in the region for centuries in construction and ritual precisely because of its dense, aromatic wood. How this differs from other "cedarwood oil" on the market
- "Cedarwood" covers three different plants. The name is used loosely across the industry for at least three distinct species: Himalayan/deodar cedar (Cedrus deodara), Atlas cedar (Cedrus atlantica, from Morocco), and Virginia or Texas "cedarwood" (actually a juniper, Juniperus virginiana or Juniperus mexicana, not a true cedar at all). They smell related but are chemically different plants. Ours is genuine Himalayan deodar.
- Juniper "cedarwood" is often the cheapest substitute. Virginia cedarwood is inexpensive and widely used as a stand-in because of its similar dry, woody scent — but it lacks the depth and resinous sweetness of true Himalayan cedar.
- Not cut with a carrier oil. Ours is 100% undiluted essential oil, distilled and bottled with nothing added.
What "pure essential oil" actually means
Pure means exactly one thing: this bottle contains only steam-distilled Himalayan cedarwood oil — nothing else. No carrier oil, no synthetic reconstruction, no fragrance additives. Because it's a real agricultural extract, you may notice small, natural variations in scent intensity between harvests — a sign of authenticity, not inconsistency. It's also why it needs to be diluted before touching skin.
Ways to use it
Diffuser
3–5 drops per 100ml of water, or 20–30 drops in the Siphon Nebulizer — grounding for a study space or bedroom.
Lava Stone
Drop 3–5 drops onto lava stones for 24–48 hours of passive, electricity-free fragrance.
Inhalation
1 drop on a tissue or your palms, cup over your nose, and breathe deeply to settle a scattered mind.
Topical / Bath
Dilute 2–3 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil before applying to skin. For bath, mix 5 drops with bath salts before adding to water.

Is this the same as the "cedarwood oil" I've seen elsewhere?
Not necessarily — "cedarwood" is sold under one name for at least three different plants (Himalayan, Atlas, and Virginia juniper). This bottle is genuine Himalayan deodar cedar, which tends to be deeper and more resinous than the cheaper juniper-based versions.
Can I apply this directly to my skin?
Not undiluted. Mix 2–3 drops with a teaspoon of carrier oil first. Never apply undiluted essential oil near the eyes or on broken skin.
Which diffuser pairs best with this oil?
