Details

Unglazed · Su Shao finish · Hemp rope detail · Flowers not included

Three vessel forms, one philosophy. The Wabi-sabi Vase collection is built around the Japanese concept of finding beauty in imperfection, incompleteness, and the natural passage of time. Each vase is unglazed — fired to a raw, matte finish that exposes the clay body in its most honest state, then hand-tied with hemp rope that adds warmth and a slow-living character.

Su Shao — the unglazed firing technique

Su Shao (素烧) is a traditional Chinese firing technique where clay is fired without glaze — leaving the raw clay body exposed. The result is a sophisticated matte surface with a slightly rough, earthy texture that changes subtly with light. Unlike glazed ceramics, Su Shao pieces feel alive — warm, tactile, and deeply natural.

Choose your shape

Twin

Double-opening form — shaped like the figure 8. Two separate openings allow for creative arrangements of stems in different directions.

Two openings · sculptural centrepiece

Arch

A single graceful arch — clean, minimal, and quietly architectural. The curved silhouette works as a standalone sculpture even when empty.

Single opening · arched form

Stone

An oval, rounded form — the most classic and versatile of the three. Works with any dried botanical arrangement and suits any interior style.

Styling suggestions

Pampas grass

The soft, feathery texture of pampas contrasts beautifully with the rough clay surface — a classic Japandi pairing.

Dried eucalyptus

The blue-grey leaves and earthy tones complement the raw clay — and slowly release a gentle natural fragrance as they dry.

Single wildflower

One stem in the Stone or Arch vase creates an effortlessly minimal arrangement that lets both the flower and vessel speak.

Empty as sculpture

The Twin and Arch shapes have enough visual presence to stand alone on a shelf or desk without any botanicals at all.
