Why Peruvian Palo Santo
Peru is the traditional origin for Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens), where the wood is harvested from naturally fallen branches and left to season for years before distillation. This slow, natural process is part of what gives Palo Santo oil its warm, sweet, woody-citrus character — distinct from the sharper profile of synthetic "palo santo fragrance oils."
How this differs from other "palo santo oil" on the market
- It's a real essential oil, not a fragrance oil. Many "palo santo oils" online are synthetic fragrance blends designed to mimic the smoky smell of burning palo santo wood — they contain no actual Bursera graveolens. Ours is steam-distilled from the real botanical.
- It's not cut or pre-diluted. This bottle is 100% undiluted essential oil — nothing added after distillation.
- It's single origin. Sourced from Peru, the wood's traditional home, rather than blended from multiple regions.
Ways to use it
Diffuser
3–5 drops per 100ml of water in a standard water diffuser, or 20–30 drops in the Siphon Nebulizer for the fullest, most undiluted scent throw.
Lava Stone
Drop 3–5 drops directly onto lava stones for 24–48 hours of passive, electricity-free fragrance — a gentler, longer-lasting release than active diffusing.
Inhalation
Place 1 drop on a tissue or your palms, cup over your nose, and breathe deeply for an instant hit of the full scent.
Bath
Add 5–8 drops to bath salts or a dispersant before adding to warm bathwater for a woody, grounding soak — oil floats on water, so mix it with salts first rather than adding it neat.

Is this the same as burning a Palo Santo stick?
The scent character is related since both come from the same wood, but this is a distilled oil for diffusers, not a substitute for the smoke-cleansing ritual of burning a stick.
How long does the scent last after diffusing?
Palo Santo is a mid-to-base note, so it builds slowly and lingers 2–4 hours after the diffuser stops — noticeably longer than a citrus top note. Expect the fullest throw from the Siphon Nebulizer, and a softer, more gradual release from lava stones.

Each item is close to its natural form — dried herbs, pure oils, hand-finished ceramics — so no two are perfectly identical, and that's intentional. Keep oils capped and away from direct light; store bundles and botanicals somewhere dry.
